Portfolio Manager–FPA Queens Road Small Cap Value Fund

Ben serves as a portfolio manager to the FPA Queens Road Small Cap Value Fund. Ben joined the Fund as a senior analyst in 2022. Previously, Ben spent ten years at International Value Advisers (“IVA”) where he was the senior analyst covering industrials and aero/defense with additional experience in financials, real estate, and telecom, media and technology. Before IVA, Ben worked for RG Niederhoffer Capital Management, a managed futures fund, as a quantitative analyst and trader. Ben received both his BA and MBA from Columbia University.

Ben is married to Ann Chung Mellman and they have two daughters. They met at Columbia University as undergraduates but didn’t start dating until their five year reunion. Ben grew up in New Jersey and spent his adult life in New York City prior to moving to Charlotte.

Ben is a former teacher and still enjoys tutoring and working with young people. He and his wife Ann are strong supporters of Restore NYC, a nonprofit organization that provides services and aid to survivors of sex trafficking.
