Retirement Celebration for Suzanne Wittebort

Suzanne Wittebort

February 23, 2018—The Bragg Financial family gathered at the Packhouse on Wednesday, February 21, 2018, to celebrate the retirement of portfolio manager, Suzanne Wittebort, CFS®. Suzanne has been an important part of the Bragg team for fourteen years. She was a member of the Investment Committee and worked closely with client portfolios to set investment policy and rebalance client accounts to meet target allocations. Suzanne is a writer at heart, and will be sorely missed around the Bragg office for her excellent writing and editing skills. As a graduate of Yale and having spent much of her career as a writer for various financial publications, Suzanne tirelessly reviewed and edited all of the investment and planning commentary that the Bragg team produced.

The Bragg Financial team celebrates
Suzanne Wittebort.

Suzanne is a native of Chicago and lived in several of the major financial centers of the world during her working career. Her love of writing began with a summer internship with the Chicago Daily News. After graduating from Yale, she worked as a researcher for Time-Life books. Suzanne began her career in business journalism as a reporter for Fortune magazine. She then spent eleven years with Institutional Investor magazine in New York and London in a variety of posts, including assistant managing editor and London bureau chief. She moved to North Carolina in 1992 and worked as senior editor for Business North Carolina magazine. Prior to joining Bragg Financial in 2004 she spent nine years with Moody's Investors Service's publications division. With Moody's, she served as editor in charge of investment handbooks including Moody's Handbook of Common Stocks, Moody's Handbook of Nasdaq Stocks, and Moody's Handbook of Dividend Achievers.

Suzanne graduated magna cum laude from Yale University in 1973, with honors in American Studies. With colleagues, she was the recipient of the 1986 Overseas Press Club of America award for business reporting. In 2006 she earned the designation Certified Fund Specialist® (CFS®).

Suzanne is an active member of St. Peter's Catholic Church, where she chairs the steering committee for her church's partnership with Druid Hills Academy. She volunteers weekly at the school as a second-grade and middle-school tutor. Suzanne also organized a Girl Scout troop at Druid Hills Academy to offer a strong program that builds character, leadership and decision-making skills. She is a former board member and past president of the Charlotte A Cappella Show Chorus.

In retirement, Suzanne plans to spend more time serving the students of Druid Hills Academy. In addition to weekly tutoring, collecting school supplies and running the Girl Scout troop, Suzanne organized a coat drive in January when the extended cold snap hit Charlotte. To recognize Suzanne’s hard work and commitment to the Druid Hills school community, Bragg Financial made a five-year financial pledge in Suzanne’s honor to the St. Peter's school partnership program. We thank Suzanne for her many years of dedicated service to our clients and to those less fortunate in our community. We wish her well during her retirement years.
